SmartKem attends UK Plastic Electronics Leadership Group (PELG) meeting as invited member at BIS
SmartKem Ltd attends April meeting of Plastic Electronics Leadership Group at Business Industry and Skills (BIS) headquarters in London
(11 April 2013) SmartKem Ltd were pleased to accept an invitation to join the Plastic Electronics Leadership Group (PELG) and attended a recent meeting in April at the Business Industry and Skills (BIS) headquarters in London.
The PELG has been established by representatives from industry, research and public organisations to actively promote research, development and manufacturing of plastic electronics in the United Kingdom.
SmartKem’s Head of Product Development, Mike Cowin attended the PELG meeting in April, “SmartKem are eager to support the efforts of the PELG, it’s a great fit for us as a technology leader in the supply of flexible semiconductors but it also allows us to contribute to the UK PE efforts as a whole, given our experience and position in the Asian market”.
Indeed BIS has previously rated the UK as third in the world in relation to commercial activity in the field of plastic electronics and this has recently been bolstered by the latest injection of £5.6M funding from BIS to create the EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Large Area Electronics which brings together four specialist universities to tackle the research challenges involved in supporting the transition of the UK supply base for the PE industry into the large area electronics manufacturing industry.
SmartKem Ltd is one of the leading developers and suppliers of high performance organic semiconductor inks to the printed electronics industry.
